Your system must include, at least,
•
3 terrestrial planets
•
3 jovian planets with appropriate moons
•
An asteroid belt with at least 4 minor planets
•
1 outer ice planet similar to one of the larger Kuiper objects
•
2 comets
Terrestrial Planets
In our solar system, we have
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
Recall that terrestrial planets have
solid surfaces and spin relatively
slowly. They may have a thin
atmosphere of carbon dioxide, but that atmosphere can
evolve into another form. Your terrestrial planet may
have a moon or two, but no more.

Jovian Planets
In our solar system, we have
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and
Neptune.
Jovian planets consist primarily of
gas and rotate in less than 18
hours. Your jovian planets should each have at least
four moons of various types. You may wish to add rings
to your jovian planet.
Asteroids
You just need to create four
different asteroids for your
system
The asteroids we know of vary from a
few hundred meters across to as much
as 900 kilometers. Their rotation rates average five or six hours,
but there are exceptions.
Ice Planets
Out around Pluto, we find
hundreds of icy planets.
Although there are at least hundreds of
objects in the Kuiper Belt, you need
create just one. It should be about 2,000
kilometers in diameter, and may have a moon as a companion.
You should be ready to describe the surface features of this
planet.
Comets
Millions of comets out there. You
need to make just two.
Your comet nucleus should be between
3 and 5 kilometers in diameter. A comet
nucleus will typically rotate in a matter of
hours. You must have the correct orbit for your comet, one with
a high eccentricity and tilted with respect to the ecliptic.
