Observing the Planets
The planets are indeed wanderers. The periods of their orbits combine to give an endlessly changing pattern of groupings and alignments. And yes, they are easy to find, even in the center of a city full of lights. 2016 has begun with all of the good stuff in the morning sky. Planet watching will not be an evening event until this summer. The Naked Eye Planets website is a great source for observing tips. Below you see the symbols for the planets and the Sun and Moon. Clicking on each will take you to a page with details on where to find each for the current month. At the very bottom of the page you see the ‘Clear Sky Clock’ which gives a graphical forecast for clear or cloudy skies here at Cranbrook Schools. Other locations are available.
