The Chromosphere
The
chromosphere
is
given
that
name
because
of
its
red
color
.
The
chromosphere
,
is
virtually
invisible
from
the
surface
of
the
Earth
except
during
a
total
solar
eclipse.
Emissions
from
the
element
hydrogen
give
this
layer
it's
red
color.
Jets
of
gas
called
spicules
can
be
seen
in
this
layer.
This
video
shows
the
motion
of
spicules
and surrounding flares as well.
