Uranus in October
Approaching Opposition Uranus will be in opposition to the Sun on the 28th of October. It will rise at sunset on that day and will be above the horizon all night long. Uranus is currently in Aries and will be there for a while. Uranus resides in each of the twelve zodiacal constellations for an average of seven years each. Here’s a chart showing the positions of the next dozen or so oppositions. The distant planet is a challenging object at any time. It’s just a bit too faint to see for most of us, but if your eyesight is sharp, you could spot it without optical aid. With a proper star chart and a small telescope, the rest of us should be able to spot it. The pronunciation of this planet has been the butt of many jokes.
